Safety-Plus® Laminated glass

Safety-Plus® laminated glass is one of the laminated products that we offer, which is next to none when it comes to theft prevention. This special type of Breakthrough® Resistant Glass is created using advanced technology; incorporating a polyester three ply core (PET film) interlayer. This is then chemically adhered between two layers of glass. The interlayer placed between the glass layers can be clear, tinted or opaque, depending on the requirements of your project.

This process of laminating makes it almost impossible to break through. Glasslam NGI Inc., the patent holders of Safety-Plus®, has verified that this product complies with Dade County's Hurricane Resistant Glass requirements in Florida where actual testing occurs. The laminated piece of glass can sustain a shot from a 2 x 4 wooden stud, fired on end from a cannon into the glass at a speed of 50ft. per second. Test results are positive that Safety-Plus® laminated glass can withstand violent impact and has succeeded from breakage with the large missile impact and cyclic wind pressure tests (see photos on page PLG-3 of catalogue).

The P.E.T. film can now be hard fastened or siliconed to the curtainwall frame in order to make the entire panel one. This way the glass cannot be pushed or forced out of the opening.
